For The Love Of Holi

Happy Holi Guys!

 This is me after a long day in college. 3 exams and roughly 6 hours of editing and no make-up later. And a little bit of colour I got from college mates after getting out of media lab. Holi is one of my all time favourite festivals. It is on 27th but since it is a holiday college people play it a day ahead with their friends on/near campus.

Winning A Fashion Show

This semester has been my most active period in college. I have been going to the campus everyday. That may not be a shocker to university going students all across the globe, but for people who know me this is a shocker. Our university is like a bohemian city inside the city. Attendance is not very strict here (70% minimum I think it is), but I have a reputation of being one of the most carefree(careless?) bunkers in my university. Anyhow this semester we have our film making course and I have been going everyday for the shooting and then editing. Among this crazy schedule was about to to happen our college fest which in itself wouldn't have been a big deal and I would have happily not gone because I am a happy woman spending endless hours in the editing room. But then my friends said they wanted me to participate in the fashion show along with them. I readily agreed and endless phone calls and emails and hurried meetings(on my part, they met up and practiced their choreography everyday) later we were finally ready to walk the stage.

The judge (Parambrata Chatterjee) said we reminded him of his childhood. The theme of the competition was "100 years of Indian Cinema" and we did a tribute to Bengali classic and cult films. Yours truly did all the make-up and the entire look for Ranjana of "Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona"(2011). The other films we chose were, "Jalsaghar"(1958), "Meghe Dhaka Tara"(1960), "Charulata"(1964), "Sagina Mahato"(1970), "Calcutta 71"(1972), "Paromitar Ek Din"(2000) and "Chokher Bali"(2003). If you love cinema then you are welcome to watch all these films (even if with subtitles).

Efoxcity Wish List

I am sure you guys must have heard of efoxcity. I have been seeing their name on so many blogs lately. I am making a list of stuff I randomly spotted and liked from their site. They have trendy pieces for cheap prices. I even saw some cool pieces in their men's wear section. I have some things from the men's outerwear and men's pants sections as well. Why? Because guys need to wear cool clothes too. I mean so few guys around here do. And let's not forget we wear boyfriend jeans/jackets all the time in the name of androgyny and whatnot. Why not buy them instead of borrowing them from all the imaginary boyfriends some of us forever alone people just do not have -_-! Ahem..back to topic.. They have lovely wholesale brooches as well. I know a lot of you shy away from stores which have the word wholesale mentioned anywhere. But I guess you know now that is not a deal breaker. In fact you get the products for cheaper because of it. Anyway you are welcome to browse through my list and tell me if you have bought anything from this site before.

So many mornings you wake up and there is just nothing that comes out of your mouth. The thoughts float around in your mind, but they turn into an incoherent pile of pebbles outside of it. You think of feminism, existential crisis, of social prejudice and how your mind is conditioned to not see certain things. But you don't open your mouth to say anything. You just sit around and let your mind form the images and you x-ray them. You wait for the night. You wait for tomorrow.
