Teashades aka Round Metal aka John Lennons from Firmoo

I was randomly checking my spam folder for a certain confirmation mail and I saw a long lost offer from Firmoo optical. I am glad I did that. I did a quick check of their website and I knew I had to get my hands on a certain pair of sunglasses they had. I have almost only talked about teashades on my blog as the number 1 thing on my wish list.
Firmoo.com is the world's most popular online eyeglasses store. They offer customers the best quality products at the most affordable prices. For this reason, they have gained a solid reputation and trust from more than 500,000 fans on facebook.
If you are a first time buyer then you get to try one of their products for free (you just have to pay for the shipping). I am telling you you should head over there and check their products out right now. They have good quality eye wear at affordable prices (both prescription and non-prescription).
I am in love with my wrap-around metal frames.
They came in a securely packed box inside was a hard case box for keeping the glasses and a water proof drawstring pouch.

I am leaving you with this black & white resemblance of  yours truly till next time when I return with an outfit post and more photos of the glasses..
Here's an interesting mini article on teashades - *click*

They sent me the sunglasses(which I chose). The rest of the ramblings and linkings are courtesy yours truly.

Sundays Are For Sniggering

Somewhere around the corner Summer bid us goodbye and left us with a blue Monsoon (erratic rain, mud, stinky bylanes on the way back home, bad light, humid afternoons and windless nights). Most of you around the world are already thinking of Fall but I am only counting idle days for the holidays to start in October. I have already made a few plans about how to spend the 5 days of puja. Things are looking good.

my new (black with laser cut details) shoes from jabong.com
my dinner last night was this tasty awesomeness I cooked
a sneak peek at my next outfit post

The days are usually long, full of ideas and exhaustion and the nights come early for me now. I am old. I feel like an 80 year old as I start snoozing from 10 or 11. There were days not long ago when I could stay up the whole night doing random shit. At least I have proper vivid dreams quite often now. I have a certain amount of control over my dreams, as strange as that may sound (you can look it up.. with practice you can control your vivid dreams..done the wrong way you can actually end up having sleep paralysis). Some people with good amount of practice and control can actually dream of whatever they most crave thus waking up with the feeling of having those things even if it isn't real, it helps lessen that hankering and maybe even create a positive outlook in working towards achieving that in real life. Not getting what you want for too long can often sour those dreams of ever getting them.
I have no idea how this post ended up being about vivid dreams, not that it matters that much. Maybe I am just a bat shit crazy person with access to the Internet trying to infiltrate your minds with crazy ideas.
Who really knows
..
bye

Gothic Romance

A book..a few good films..some good songs..a gothic romance is all this heart wants..*sigh*
Gothic Romance

I have 4 exams tomorrow and I am sitting here doing everything but studying. I have been studying for the last 3-4 days and I got an inspiration to create an outfit..So you how it was essential I just do this..I am not procrastinating! It's been raining in the the most piss poor manner from Saturday afternoon..I hate weather like this. I love torrential downpours creating an almost gothic romantic atmosphere where all you want to do is curl up in a warm corner and look out the window watching and just watching the rain coming down. Soft, silky textures on your skin and the earth's smell as you sit wrapping yourself in your arms or leaning against the one you love. In my ideal world you can do all that for endless hours without the worry of catastrophic exam results or missing out on a day of work. Just sitting there with all your senses heightened, all your nerve cells tingling with hope and an energy so positive that all you can do is curl up your lips and smile.

P.S.-The Maybelline Colossal kajal is awesome. And those are my new shoes from Jabong!

See you next time
Keep sending your love till then
...
I am not being mushy

Because There Is Always Tomorrow

"Never love anybody who treats you like you are ordinary"
Oscar Wilde

I think this goes for every kind of love not just romantic love. Love is something more than liking. Choose accordingly. With this brilliant piece of wisdom from my side as well as Mr. Wilde's let us proceed on to stare at these beautiful black and white pictures..

Salvador Dali- because there has to be some sheer madness, genius & skulls
Circus Boxing Act - because there is a connection to early films which had a tableau format
1891 - because ventriloquism is cool..and this is creepy
Repairing the bells of Potsdam, Germany, 1930- because of the history
"The Cardplayers" by Ruth Orkin :: New York City in 1943 - because we have memories of childhood
Julius Shulman, Woman and the Ocean - because we all need to breathe in the salt of the ocean if we're alive
It is raining out here...So with this picture I am signing off today...because I love doing this in the rain

Images from here & here (if you are on pinterest do check her out..because she pins such beautiful photos and you can't find her anywhere else on the net)

Somethings New

Some new things I got this last month...I got this blue ombre t-shirt from Jabong because I am in dire need of casual stuff to wear to college and sweat through them the whole day and also because it has "Made in 90s" written on it so loud and clear...and it goes with my recent obsession with the colour blue in everything..I just need to get my hands on some blue hair colour and then I will say "the rest was history kids..". I know someday I will find those temporary colours and I will colour my hair blue, green, purple..

Vero Moda Sheer Black Top with Bow
Never thought I would go for something like this. But I just loved it when I tried it on. Sale season beckoned but I got this one off the fresh stocks rack. I wore this to the Four Seasons Wine Event last month.

Latin Quarters Black Blouse with Embroidered Neckline and Feather Earrings from Accessorize

Striped Tee with Faux Leather Pocket Detail from Chemistry and Hamsa & Ankh Necklace from Accessorize
I got all this on sale.. I really like the pocket detail in the striped tee. I remember I had gone crazy about having pockets in everything I wear at a point of time and got a pocket sewn into a short kurt I had, loved wering but hated that it didn't have pockets. Don't look at a picture of my face like that, I am not crazy.
I absolutely love the Hamsa & Ankh necklace, got it for a whopping 70% off. I have been wanting to buy feather earrings for so long but I am at a loss at what to pair these with. As you can see no other colour beats my obsession for black and they just don't seem right with the stuff I have.. ..
In other news I saw Alain Resnais' "Night and Fog" and I cannot describe in words what an impact it had on me. I went gaga over "Hiroshima Mon Amour" when I saw it. Resnais is definitely one of my most favourite film makers. You have to see and understand his language and the questions he raises to know what I am talking about.

P.S.- Shout out to Kim of A Very Sweet Blog as I won her OPI GER-MINIS giveaway! My 1st giveaway win :D

Okay now I will pass out and snore..adios!

Four Seasons Wines And A Bloggers' Meet

Day: This Saturday the 28th
Venue: Oasis Restaurant at Park Street (the food street of Calcutta)
Event: Wine Tasting and meeting other Fashion and Lifestyle Bloggers of Calcutta (fine Kolkata!)
Host: Four Seasons Wines
Motto: See, Swirl, Smell, Sip

I love drinking wine. It is the only drink you can have while you are eating your food. As much as rum holds a certain spot due to a certain Captain Sparrow, wine is my poison..followed by vodka..followed my a good ol' long island iced tea..followed by oh well you know...
Here's a brief intro to the day... We met outside for taking photos...and then headed inside..

As we waited for our host Shamita Singha, former Miss Earth and wine trainer, we were served snacks while we chatted with Mr. Peter Mitter, representing Four Seasons wines and Mr. Pratap Darayani, owner of Oasis.

"Wine is sunlight, held together by water."
~ Galileo
as told by Mr. Mitter at the beginning of our session.

Mr.Pratap D, Mr.Peter M, Shamita telling us all about wine and generally making sure we were having a good time

We started with Veg Wantons and Herb Infused Chicken Reshmi Kebab paired with Chenin Blanc. It was an off-dry, still white wine with a pale lemon yellow colour, light aromas of citrus fruit with hints of fresh apple and honey. Then for main course we were served Grilled Fish in Lemon Butter Sauce and Masala Au Gratin paired with Viognier. It was a dry, still white wine with a pale gold colour(if you hold the two glasses side by side in light you could see the beautiful difference in shades). It had a floral aroma with hints of apple, apricot, peach and spices. It lingers in your mouth longer than the Chenin Blanc. Honest confession I always go for red wines and this was the first time I liked both white wines that we tasted. They served it at the right room temperature (which is 8-12°C) which is not the room temperature in Calcutta by any chance (which swinged around 33°C that day with loads of humidity; my camera lens got misty on stepping outside!).
We had the Blush wine paired with our dessert, Brownie with Ice cream. Albeit it was a bit too heavy for the Blush as we were informed by Shamita so we tasted it on its own before having the dessert. The Blush is off-dry, still Rosé wine, salmon pink in colour. It had floral aromas with hints of crushed strawberries and sweet spices. The colour was gorgeous and I don't usually like shades of pink.
We also tasted the Barrique Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, a dry, still red wine, deep cherry red in colour with the aroma of blackcurrant and blackberry, a hint of chocolate and tobacco. It was a full bodied red wine with a concentration of soft tannins(only present in red wines causing that puckery feeling in your mouth after you have had a swig).
We were all given bottles of their Shiraz red wine as tokens at the end of the day. I had a great time learning a few new things about wine. At the end of the day it isn't really about following the rules about (well anything, but knowing the rules helps in breaking them) pairing the right one with the right food. Find the flavour you love and just drink it up for a cheeky evening with friends..mix them up for all you care and wake up the nest day with a flush face and happy grin..wine won't make you throw up in the morning..really!..push the limit and find out..if you throw up let me know...
Here are a couple of shots of yours truly from that day...the second one was taken at the end of the day so I have already licked off all my red lipstick as you can see and have sweaty hair and almost no make-up left..I will try and do a proper outfit post with this later in all my red lips glory...till then just enjoy a shot with my red ombre hair..
