Took An Evening Out With The Avengers

I went to watch The Avengers today. It was housefull and by the time we reached only the front 2 rows had a few seats left. But it was worth the neck pain. Well after the movie starts you kind of don't care about the awkward angle anymore. My verdict - mind blown. And so worth the wait. My favourite character - Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff...no wait Tony Stark/Iron Man....no wait Thor...no Hulk/Dr.Bruce Banner...Agent Phil & Loki ...yes yes what a treat just before all my exams roll on Monday onwards.. Buy your popcorn and grab a cold drink and go ahead to be blown by awesomeness.

and here's what I wore..I was running late..we had to hurry to get the tickets..well I barely made it but this is what I threw on..

See I didn't give any spoilers because I know some of you haven't watched it yet.

Around a Skirt

A lot has been happening..at least in my head even though my body doesn't move much..such lame jokes. I bought this skirt a few days back. I realised I haven't bought anything in months and that gave me an itchy hand the moment I got some cash. I am sick of having so few skirts. I used to hate them. Maybe having a skirt as part of the school uniform for nearly a decade and a half just did it. Kills your vision, just kills it.
So anyway somewhere down the line a couple of years back I decided I will buy great skirts...and then I found absolutely nothing I liked..for long..I finally got this because apparently I saw something in it this time I didn't the last few times I saw it hanging on the racks.
I am a huge grunge fashion fan. I hope if you didn't know that I did drive it in with my last post. I took a bit of grunge inspiration for styling this outfit around the skirt.

Real or Not Real

I saw it on the 2nd day of its release. Then after walking out I bought the whole series. I just needed to know the whole story you see and from experience I know the book always holds greater treasures than it's onscreen Hollywood adaptation. It was lucky I got them that day. The book store was out of stock and I was already finished billing when a fresh stock arrived and the store assistant came looking for me to let me know. I went home with The Hunger Games trilogy. The 1st book was good but I already knew how things ended. So I made it through lightly..
But I had a better glimpse at Katniss Everdeen and what exactly the bread Peeta gave meant to her. The bright yellow dandelions and the burnt bread.
Catching Fire is the most compelling book I have read in the longest time. I will not give away anything for those who haven't read it yet. If you think a YA book is not worth your time then let me tell you I thought the same before and I'm so glad I went ahead anyway. Even if I had not seen the movie that day I know I would have found the way to this one.
I finished Mockingjay in one breath it seems. I couldn't keep it aside. I had to know. I slept poorly the last 2-3 nights ( I remember preparing for and giving a viva exam on Great Depression somewhere in between) and I needed to know the end before another night hit me. I remember the stories I have finished at dawn break - there have been only 3 - and I remember those moments when I stared out the window watching the sun come up thinking about what just happened to me. It is the characters I love lingering on long after I have mulled over the story and what all it meant.
A good book, a good story can do that to you. I love Katniss, my heart aches for Peeta and Prim and every character you come across you are bound to be moved by them. Don't reduce it to a love triangle, this story
is about so much more. In contemporary YA literature you will come across very few like this one. In fact what I see between Gale and Katniss is only friendship because I know friendship. Her relationship with pretty much everyone else is a point of constant conflict in her mind at different points of the story. This is not a love story. This story is about rebellion, revolution, reclaiming who you are, coming to terms with what you have become and about hope and debts you can never pay off. I woke up a few hours back and tried to clear my head to read through this post I wrote in the morning in a state of heavy sleep deprivation and in a trance. I am still not recovered fully.
P.S.- I should let you know though Mockingjay was disappointing.

Trend Report 2012 - trends I'm not indulging in

Fashion changes with the seasons but style is constant. Our personal style evolves as we evolve as individuals. Somethings are not you right now. In the past maybe you wore those things and in the future you may wear those other things and in between hundreds of things will be trending. The key is to not lose yourself in the trend machine.
I often make lists of things which are on my wish list and the trends I am loving. We all do. So here's a list of the current trends I won't be indulging in.

This post is the product of me sifting through the Vogue Trend Report SS 2012 that came in with my April issue. The titles of the looks are exactly how they were in the issue. I pretty much loved everything else in it. Especially their chunky shoe love;also the beauty, sunglasses, jewellery, bags and hats sections.
I am going to sign off now and cry looking at my wardrobe which is spilling with basic stuff.
